Thanks to Nick Berezenko and David Cason, KRIM-FM now has two translators up
and running. Both translators are located on mountain tops and enable KRIM to
reach all the people of Rim Country. We would also like to mention that Chris Salgot of C&M Communications
(engineering), and Mike Chisholm (engineering) have
been of tremendous help in the installation and engineering of these two
translators.
These people helped make KRIM the first
LPFM station in the United States to use a translator station. We are also
one of the few LPFM stations in the United States to have
TWO translators re-broadcasting our signal. Quite an accomplishment for Payson.
99.7 Diamond Point The
Diamond Point translator, at 6,400' elevation, was originally installed to give
greater coverage to Star Valley, Chaparral Pines, and the Knolls. However, it
also covers Christopher Creek, Kohls Ranch, and East Highway 260 from Payson all the way to
Woods Canyon Lake turnoff. In addition it covers Highway 260 to Pine
better then the other translators. If you are traveling south on the
Beeline (Highway 87) this translator is a good choice until you get just
past the 188 turnoff where you should switch to the Mt. Ord 95.9
translator.
98.9 Mogollon Rim The
Mogollon Rim translator is located at 7,000' elevation on the Mogollon Rim 5 miles north of
Strawberry. It was originally intended to cover the Pine - Strawberry area. It
also covers Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Jerome, and Prescott Valley. This is a good
choice if you are traveling west on 260 as it covers a huge area.
If you live in any of these outlying communities you
should be able to receive KRIM on one of these translators. Sometimes a simple
outside antenna will help. If you have difficulty receiving us please e-mail us
for help.
KRIM is your community radio
station. Please support
us with your membership in PCMA and your underwriting if you are a business. We
need your support in order to continue the fine programming that you enjoy.
