Brooks
& Yoder Don Brooks and Dave Yoder came together early in 2006 to form "Brooks and Yoder". Dave played music in Phoenix with the Dave McCann Band for 4 years after doing a road gig for 1 year. Dave moved to Payson and worked with such notables as Don and 'Rockin' Ron Gibson in Uncle Dave and the Twins' Band, 'Deek' Detrich, Neal Mercer and the Loaded Pistols Band, before joining 'Yesterday' as drummer. Dave is a multi talented musician that plays drums, is proficient on bass, and knows his way around a 6 string guitar. He's also into writing and producing commercials for radio in his recording studio. Don Brooks has played keyboard with the 'Yesterday' Band in Phoenix for over 30 years. Their goal is to provide easy listening and dance music with vocals and tight harmony. They have performed all over Payson, including the Payson Elks and the Matazal Casino. Stop by and catch their great lounge music! They also have a CD out with easy listening This Magic Moment. Listen to two songs by Brooks and Yoder - Brown Eyed Girl - You're Sixteen |
![]() Gary Lust - moved to Payson after leaving his career in Mesa, 7 years ago and started pursuing his lifelong interest of music. Although he is interested in several musical genres, Eric Clapton has provided the most significant inspiration - particularly in his interpretation of traditional blues, accoustic fingerstyle and slide. He does all of his vocals, guitar, harmonica on his songs on his current CD, listen to two of Gary's songs - Nobody Knows You - Walkin' Blues

Joe
Miracle - is a journeyman, sideman, who also plays a mean harmonica in
addition to his beloved guitar. Joe was just another guitar-playing kid from
Texas. Joe's life in music has taken him through several of the major movements
that have defined modern American pop, folk, rock, hippie, psychedelic, country-rock,
contemporary, country and modern bluegrass. Joe is a living history of popular
music. Joe Miracle, the name is synonymous with several decades of quality,
incomparable music, and since Joe is nowhere near finished making memories
yet, that's a book he's not ready to write. Joe is currently recording a three
CD project as well as writing, performing and perfecting a script he has written.
One can only imagine that the best is yet to come from Joe Miracle!

Junction
87 Band, which received second place in
the 2007 best of Payson Awards in the Best Local Performance Group or
Soloist category, consists of Billy Ichida, Bob Lewis and Jim Norman.
Billy Ichida who plays the lead guitar and
fiddle began playing guitar while in college. Before moving to Payson,
Billy played with the country rock band "Coyote" in Phoenix. When he's
not on the bandstand, Billy operates the Backstage Studio here in
Payson.
Bob Lewis is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player for Junction 87. Bob also plays bass guitar. Bob has been pickin' and singing for over 40 years. After spending two years on the road with the Arizona Outlaws, he went to Nashville and recorded three singles, two of the songs charted in the top 40 on Billboard. While with the Arizona Outlaws, Bob and the band were the opening acts for Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hoyt Axton, Jenna Jae, and Sammi Smith. Jim Norman is our bass fiddle and bass guitar
player. Jim began playing the guitar at the age of 14. He played in a
rock and roll garage band as a youth in the northeast Oklahoma City
area. After retiring from Junction 87 performed a show at the town of Payson Concert Under the Stars, in June. In April the band will travel all expenses paid, to a town near Kobe, Japan, Billy's home town, for a week. Billy expects that we might even perform at a couple of the local clubs while there. Keep checking our web sight for more details as they develop. Domo arigato, Junction 87
After an 8 year hiatus, travels, marriage, and babies, the girls are back living in the same town and doing what they love to do best, play music together. Their new act is an acoustic kaleidoscope of all their favorite songs and favorite artists and their very own original music. Sue plays a mean acoustic bass and Kate plays guitar. Their sense of humor makes for a total entertainment event every time they play together. Listen to two of their songs click here - Gotta Get Back - At Home in a Honky Tonk
In 1992, Lupe met Cindy (now his wife), and together they are better known as "Sounds Unlimited". They play a variety of music including Country, 50's, Motown, Latin (Salsa), and old time Rock & Roll. Just before moving to Payson, Lupe was the vocal arranger and provided the music for the "Rock N Roll Legends" show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Listen to a medley of their songs.
![]() Waterking - The band "Waterking" was formed in 1971 when Pulitzer Prize winning author Bill Reeder met rocket scientist Denny Marek at a brothel in downtown Tokyo that was being closed down for health violations. As a condition of their being allowed to return to the United States, and to avoid doing prison time, the pair was court-ordered to never engage in work that involved lying, cheating or stealing. Their political aspirations thus crushed, they decided to become musicians. Denny took three guitar lessons, and Bill took three drum lessons, which therefore qualified them to play 96.3% of all rock 'n roll songs at the time. By the way, that number would come back to play a significant role in their careers at a later date. They played their
music at hotel chains and nightclubs over a 5 state area, and attracted
the attention of Jim O'Leary, owner of Wave Records in Pittsburgh, who
quickly signed them to a record deal. Their first single, "Break
Break" garnered significant airplay over the "tri-state area"
Over the years, extra members came and went, but the core of Denny & Bill remained constant. Denny moved from his native Cleveland, Ohio to Arizona in 1997. Bill said "Okay, I'll be right there", and Bill, being on Pennsylvania time, arrived in 2006.
As for my musical influences....hmm...Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, rock, metal, you name it. I have always kept an open mind to different genres of music. Ricky Skaggs and Steve Warner’s really old stuff have always been favorites of mine, while at the same time I am a big fan of the blood pumping beat & screaming Guitar solo’s of Hard Rock, I mean c’mon, can anyone honestly say that they have never fantasized about being a Rock Star? Bryan Dee Higgens - grew up in a family that had the love for playing country music in Los Angeles, with his family influences and self teaching of singing and playing guitar, he started jamming in bars as a teenager, but being shy and having stage fright took him off the stage and back to his room where he continued his passion for all the country style picking and singing of the likes of Merle Haggard, George Jones and Conway Twitty. Now, years later, Bryan Higgens is part of the Rim Country music scene! For times, dates, locations or to schedule a private party, he can be contacted at: 623-670-0326 or es335bry@msn.com. Listen to Bryan Higgens singing and playing rhythm and lead guitar on two of his songs. Fatal Glass Of Beer and Catch Me When I'm Falling Down
